What you'll do
- Coordinate and oversee the loading and unloading of cargo vessels at the port.
- Ensure all port operations comply with local and international regulations and safety standards.
- Manage and process all necessary documentation for incoming and outgoing cargo, including customs declarations.
- Liaise effectively with port authorities, shipping lines, and ground transportation teams.
- Monitor cargo movements and storage, ensuring optimal utilization of port resources.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and discrepancies to maintain efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections of cargo and equipment to ensure integrity and safety.
- Prepare detailed reports on operational activities, incidents, and performance metrics.
- Implement and adhere to company policies and procedures related to port operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational workflows.
Required skills
Valid G Card license for port operations in India.Minimum 3 years of experience in port operations or a related logistics field.In-depth knowledge of port procedures, regulations, and safety protocols.Proficiency in cargo handling and stowage techniques.Strong understanding of customs clearance processes and documentation.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Proven problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Familiarity with logistics software and record-keeping.Capacity to work flexible hours, including shifts, as required by port operations.
Nice to have
Prior experience with container terminal operations.Knowledge of hazardous materials handling regulations.Proficiency in local languages in addition to English.Experience with supply chain management principles.Certifications in logistics or supply chain management.
